Super-TF Main Bearings

Malloy is excited to offer NSK’s Super Tough spherical roller bearing as a solution to common main bearing failures. Spalling on the rollers and raceway, peeling damage, and other failure modes the Wind industry continually sees stems from the poor lubrication environment that main bearings are operating in. The Super Tough material is designed for operation in non-ideal lubrication environments, making it a great upgrade when replacing failed main bearings.

Main Bearings - a poor lubrication environment

The main bearing application in a wind turbine is very demanding. Many failures found in this application stem from poor lubrication.

Super Tough bearings consistently outperform Through Hardened and even Case Carburized bearings in these low lambda conditions. The special material alloy and heat treatment used to make Super Tough bearings provide a great upgrade to such a demanding application.

Main Bearings - possible contaminated lubricant

Sometimes main bearings are susceptible to lubrication contamination. Even with very hard debris in the lubricant Super Tough bearings dramatically outperform case carburized bearings.
